Stone's throw away from the Queen Victoria Markets along Peel St lies @MariasTrattoria serving regional Italian fare. An Italian nonna, maybe named Maria's after the reataurant, is cooking away behind the stove. Lovely service, a good range of dishes on the menu and a long list of specials, I chose the rabbit from the specials menu. A number of my colleagues chose hand made pasta dishes in a medium serve which was a hearty serving so not sure what a large looks like! My rabbit was cooked perfectly, generous serving of tender fillets immersed in a tomato, caper and olive sauce, seasonal vegetables to boot, a very satisfying meal. I also eyed the dessert menu and chose a personal favourite, tiramisu, which was fantastic! Light, airy, creamy and oh so delicious. Went to try as Google reviews gave good words on this trattoria. Ordered Gnocchi and Fetuccini. I asked for recommended sauce to go with the Gnocchi and I loved it, Gnocchi was soft, sauce was tasty and thick but not too filling. Portion is very generous too. Even the garlic bread is so good!! And thank you for your great hospitality :)

What a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Italian. I went there as a part of group of 26 people. Maria & her team were amazing & welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. Despite a large group to serve, the quality & taste of the food didn't struggle. We all thought they did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend anyone looking forward to eat some italiano try this. It will not disappoint you.

I have driven past this place many times over the last thirty years and always wanted to try it. Today I did. It took me back in time to a fave period of my life when I lived in Sicily, and the Amalfi coast. We had the trio bruschetta which was exceptional. We had gnocchi with bacon and the spaghetti Taormina. It was all spot on. I will def return and def bring my family.

Maria's Trattoria is a hidden Italian gem in the North Melbourne suburb. The food is simply delightful and they come in generous portions that leave you very satisfied. And the prices are reasonable for such quality food. Praise must also be given to their warm and friendly staff. They made me feel like family from the moment I walked in. It is worth mentioning that the interior looks a bit dated due to the restaurant's long history, but it is still kept very clean and tidy.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Maria’s Trattoria in Melbourne. For dinner I ordered the lasagna, and to my surprise it came with peas a lovely and unexpected touch that added both colour and texture to the classic dish. The lasagna was beautifully made: the pasta sheets were perfect, the sauce rich and flavourful, and the subtle inclusion of peas gave it extra personality. The service was warm and welcoming the staff made me feel right at home, which added to the charm of the evening. The atmosphere felt authentic and comfortable, perfect for a relaxed meal that still feels special. Portion size and value were excellent, the generous serve meant I left fully satisfied without feeling overstuffed.

This place is one of my favourite hidden gems in Melbourne, the food is absolutely divine and the portion sizes are very generous! Not to mention the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, this place feels just like a warm hug. Highly recommend the Pesto pasta!

Came here with my husband and I would highly recommend this restaurant. The portions of the pasta are large and great flavour. We had the specials which had been the blue cheese gnocchi and husband had the lamb cutlets. He is normally hard to please but said it was one of the best restaurant meals he has had for a long time! The service was great and very friendly.
